Leon Bridges
Jul 28, 2021
Grammy Award-winning Leon Bridges has released his third album, Gold-Diggers Sound. The title of the album comes from the prolonged evening recording sessions that took place at a studio in L. A of the same name. Gold-Diggers Sound was executive produced by Bridges and Ricky Reed, and produced by Reed and Nate Mercereau. Some of the songs feature contributions from Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and Ink.
In addition to “Motorbike” and the poignant “Sweeter” (featuring Martin) released earlier this year, other standouts from the Gold-Diggers Sound include “Born Again” (featuring Glasper) “Steam,” “Details” and “Blue Mesas.”
Bridges said, “I spent two years jamming in what often felt like a musician’s paradise. We effortlessly moved from the dance floor to the studio. We would be finishing our tequilas at 10:00 AM and waking up with coffee and getting to work at 10:00 PM. It was all for the love of R&B and musicianship.”
Alongside the album, Bridges has also released a 20-minute short film celebrating the music, Blackness, Texas and his Southern heritage. Directed by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Bradford Young, the film is available exclusively on Apple Music with the album. He recently appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallen.” Bridges also has a track on this summer’s Space Jam: A New Legacy soundtrack.
Bridges has announced an extensive 2021-2022 touring schedule in support of the release.
