Real Estate
Mar 16, 2020
Real Estate formed in Ridgewood, NJ, in 2009. The band is currently based in Brooklyn and consists of Martin Courtney, IV (vocals, guitar), Alex Bleeker (bass, vocals), Jackson Pollis (drums), Matt Kallman (keyboards) and Julian Lynch (guitar)
Over the last decade, Real Estate have crafted warm indie-yet-pop-minded music. They have just released The Man Thing, their fifth studio album. Recording over the course of a year at Upstate New York’s Marcata Sound, the band re-enlisted engineer Kevin McMahon, who helmed their sophomore effort, Days. And for the first time, they brought in outside players to round out the sessions:
In addition to the single “Paper Cup,” check out “Friday,” “Gone,” “Falling Down,” “Shallow Sun” and the title track.
Bleeker said of the project, “We discovered through the care and attention that we brought to this record that making music to resonate with other people is our catharsis. The ‘main thing’ is following your path of inspiration and hoping to inspire that in people around you. Hopefully the album itself will re-affirm peoples’ commitments to themselves and to each other, as it did for us.”
Like so many acts, their touring is on hiatus due the coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions.
