Frist Aid Kit
First Aid Kit -- sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg – have just release Ruins. Their fourth studio album was produced by Tucker Martine and recorded in Portland, OR, where the duo collaborated with some impressive musicians — REM’s Peter Buck, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche and Midlake’s McKenzie Smith.
The sisters Söderberg may be from Sweden, but it’s quite clear the roots of American music live deeply in their hearts and souls. The songs on Ruins feature confident vocals and harmonies, and each song has been tastefully arranged. In addition to the single, “It’s A Shame,” check out “Rebel Heart,” “Postcard,” “Distant Star,” “To Live A Life” and “Nothing Has To Be True.”
In an interview, Klara said, “To inspire anyone is always amazing, but I’m really happy if we can inspire other girls because I know we have a big problem in our society with sexism. If we can come out and say ‘Hey, we’re just doing this on our own terms,’ maybe they can too.”
Earlier this spring, the duo also released a stand-alone single on International Women’s Day entitled "You Are The Problem Here."
First Aid Kit did a few dates last year including Austin City Limits and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. The sisters also played Glastonbury in 2017. They are set to tour North America again this winter:
