ZZ Ward
Jul 17, 2017
ZZ Ward returns with her second full-length album, The Storm. Ward recorded the project around L.A. at different studios and at home over the course of 2015 and 2016. She teamed with various collaborators including Blended Babies, Ludwig Goransson, Michael Fitzpatrick and Warren “Oak” Felder.
For inspiration, Ward returned to her earliest roots including Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, Vera Ward Hall and Big Mama Thornton. Check out “Help Me Mama,” “Hold On” and songs with guests such as “Cannonball f. Fantastic Negrito,” “Domino f. Fitz” and “Ride f. Gary Clark Jr.”
“For me, this album really wasn’t about experimenting,” said Ward of the new album. “It was more about simplicity, honing in on what I love about music and what makes me who I am as an artist.”
Ward is currently on tour and then goes out this fall with Kaleo for some dates. She is performing at some festivals including Bumbershoot, LouFest and Bourbon & Beyond.
