Wonder Girls
Aug 8, 2012
Wonder Girls is a South Korean girl group, which current line-up consists of five members: Yubin, Yeeun, Sunye, Sohee, and Hyelim. They are managed by their producer singer-songwriter Park Jin-Young under his talent agency, JYP Entertainment. They are co-managed in the United States by JYP Entertainment and Creative Artists Agency. The meaning behind the group's name 'Wonder Girls' comes from the idea that they are "the girls who can amaze the world". The group began their entry into the American market in 2009 as an opening act for The Jonas Brothers' World Tour, followed by their own headlining tour in US & Canada in 2010. In late 2009, an English version of their hit song "Nobody" charted at number seventy-six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making the Wonder Girls the first South Korean group to enter the chart.
In 2010, Wonder Girls entered the Chinese market with the compilation album Wonder Girls that included Chinese language versions of "Tell Me", "Nobody", and "So Hot". In 2012, Wonder Girls signed with DefStar Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan, for their Japanese debut.
"Like Money" is the new single by Wonder Girls featuring Akon. The song and music video were released on July 10th. It will also be included in the group's upcoming American debut album. Prior to its release, the song was featured on their first TV movie, The Wonder Girls, which aired on TeenNick. The song was co-written by Crystal "Cri$tyle" Nicole (Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)") and Lukas Hilbert, and produced by Woo S. Rhee "Rainstone" and Hilbert. The video was directed by Ethan Lader (Bruno Mars, B.o.B., Enrique Iglesias).
