Within the 10 years since the start of Rihanna's musical career is 2003, she had become the youngest solo artist to score 14 number one singles on the Hot 100 - the fastest to do so. Rihanna has over 102 million Facebook fans, 107 million Twitter & 138 million Instagram followers.
In 2003, Def Jam released her debut album, Music Of The Sun, which contained the highly addictive dancehall-flavored first single, “Pon De Replay.” A year later, Rihanna delivered the platinum-selling sophomore set, A Girl Like Me, featuring the #1 singles “SOS” and “Unfaithful.”
Her 2007 album, Good Girl Gone Bad, took the singer to another level. The album’s first single, “Umbrella”, became the Pop song of the summer, earning the singer her first Grammy in 2008 (Best Rap/Sung collaboration).
Her next album, Rated R, arrived in 2009, featuring the single, “Russian Roulette”. The next year, she released the album, Loud, and became the youngest artist to achieve ten #1 singles with her smash, “S&M”. In 2011, Talk That Talk spawned the global hit “We Found Love”, which for which she received the Grammy award for Best Short Form Music Video.
Her 7th studio album, Unapologetic, was the singer’s first #1 on the Top 200. That same year, Rihanna made her acting debut in the movie “Battleship.” In 2015, she voiced her first animated character, Tip, in the Dreamworks' film "Home." In addition to providing three singles to the film's soundtrack, Rihanna curated the entire compilation.
Rihanna’s creative muse has also triggered various entrepreneurial and philanthropic pursuits. Her sense of style - from cutting-edge hairstyles to immaculate fashion foresight - has earned her over 70 magazine covers. She was named the face of French fashion house Balmain’s spring/summer 2014 campaign and received the prestigious Fashion Icon Award from the 2014 Council of Fashion Designers.
After a successful creative partnership, MAC Cosmetics named Rihanna the face of their 2014 Viva Glam campaign, with proceeds benefitting women and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. At the end of 2014, Rihanna became Puma's global ambassador for women's training. In March 2015, Dior announced Rihanna as the newest face of their brand, starring in their Secret Gardens campaign.
Rihanna's 2016 album, Anti, became her second to reach #1 on the Top 200. The lead single, “Work” featuring Drake, hit #1 on iTunes in 91 countries less than 36 hours after its release. Other singles included "This Is What You Came For" and "Love On The Brain".
Rihanna puts her influence to good use via philanthropic efforts. Chief among these is her own Clara Lionel Foundation.
