Rich Brian
Jan 21, 2022
22 year old rapper Rich Brian has surprised fans with a brand new release, Brightside (88rising/Warner). The EP is his first new music since 2020's album 1999.
Complete with four songs, Brian describes the project as an ode to his deep love of rap. "While doing melodies are fun, I wanted to remind people that I still love to rap. It's short, it's not an album but I see it like a mental note of how the past year has accelerated my growing-up process as an artist and a person."
A video has been released for one of the tracks, "Getcho Mans", featuring 88rising labelmate Warren Hue. Directed by The Reggies, the clip captures the rappers trading bars in their most heightened states in a surreal visual that intensifies as clones of two invade the scenes and culminates into an all-out brawl. The track arrives after Brian and the rest of his 88rising crew hosted their Head In The Clouds Festival back in November. A previous track from the EP, "New Tooth", has been streamed 7.5M+ across platforms. Recently, Brian was featured on "Edamame", a track by Canadian rapper, bbno$.
Brian is set to perform at this year’s Coachella festival on day two of the showcase's respective weekends, a day that's headlined by Billie Eilish.
