The Anxiety
Oct 11, 2021
The Anxiety is a band featuring musician/actress Willow Smith and her partner, musician/actor/director Tyler Cole.
Smith, the daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, made her acting debut in the 2007 film “I Am Legend” and launched her music career in 2010 with the Top 15 single “Whip My Hair”. The following year, she became the youngest artist signed to Roc Nation, the label & entertainment company founded by her mentor, Jay-Z. She recently scored a Top 5 hit on Alternative radio, "transparentsoul" (f. Travis Barker).
Cole has released two albums and acted in the film “Between The Miles” and in the Netflix series “Family Reunion”.
The Anxiety released their debut album in 2020 just ahead of the Covid-19 pandemic, revealing it to the public in a unique way, trapping the two performers in a glass box on display at the Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art for 24 hours, to raise awareness about the different stages of anxiety - as well as promote the album. The performance/art piece was live streamed on Twitch as well. Neither were allowed to speak to each other and could communicate only in affirmations written on the surrounding canvas walls. Time was allowed for bathroom breaks, sleeping and eating.
One of the album’s tracks, “Meet Me At Our Spot” went viral on TikTok, generating endless creates using the song’s lyrics “Caught a vibe … baby are you coming for the ride?”
