Pink Sweat$

Pink Sweat$ is the moniker of Philly born (2/14/92) singer-songwriter David Bowden. The nickname is because he always wears pink sweatpants. 

 

As a teen, he suffered from a disorder called 'achalasia.' In an interview with Rolling Stone, he recalled, "It deteriorates the nerves in your esophagus. Being diagnosed with achalasia put things into perspective for me — it made me realize I shouldn't waste time, because I didn't know if this would lead to me losing my voice."

 

When he was 19, he became a demo vocalist at Philadelphia's Sound Stigma Studios, impressing producers there with his writing and vocal skills. 

 

His first release was the 2018 single, "Honesty." It was featured on many prominent streaming playlists and led to a publishing deal, which was followed by a label bidding war. He signed with Atlantic Records. 

 

His debut EP, titled Volume 1, came later that year in November and the follow-up, Volume 2, is out now.
