DAYVID is a 22-year-old singer from San Diego.
As a child, he sang in a church choir, and in high school began dissecting popular music to understand its construction. As a teen, he began commuting to Los Angeles to find a path into the entertainment industry, focusing on writing original music. He found some success writing for other artists like Fedde Le Grand and Navarra and developed a vision for his own artist project. At 18, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career full-time.
He released his debut single, "Sure Of Me" in Fall 2018 followed by "VHS" in Spring 2019 and his debut EP (DAYVID), which includes "Wasted Luv."
Dayvid's new single "Spinning Bottles" was co-written with Grammy-nominated producer Morgan Taylor Reid. The singer explained to website GritDaily that the song "...is a metaphor for being in a constant cycle of mental mayhem and feeling trapped and not knowing what to do. I was trapped in this cycle of taking the blame, and eventually realizing, it wasn’t my fault. Music has the power to change the conversation about mental health, and I want people to know that it is okay to talk about our struggles and it is okay to ask for help."
The video was directed by Joshua Amar, who has written projects for Darren Aronofsky, Avril Lavigne, John Legend and Death Cab for Cutie.
DAYVID plans to release a line of merchandise that supports mental health initiatives with a portion of the proceeds going to mental health organizations that focus on providing services for those struggling and that help erase the stigma surrounding mental illness.
