Foxy Shazam
Mar 5, 2012
Formed in 2004, Foxy Shazam is an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. The band name originated from a slang phrase used by students at vocalist Eric Sean Nally's high school. "Foxy shazams" meant 'cool shoes'. The band is composed of lead vocalist Eric Sean Nally, guitarist Loren Turner, pianist Sky White, and bass player Daisy. Later, trumpeter and back-up vocalist Alex Nauth joined, and Aaron McVeigh became the band's permanent drummer. Soon after formation, the band recorded The Flamingo Trigger independently, then committed to an extensive national touring schedule. Shortly thereafter, Foxy signed with Ferret Records and recorded its second album, Introducing, which was produced by Casey Bates and released in January 2008. The following year, the band recorded its first major label record with multi-platinum record producer John Feldmann. Foxy Shazam signed with Sire Records (a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records) and released its self-titled major label debut in 2010.
The band's fourth studio album, The Church of Rock and Roll, was released in January 2012. Earlier though on December 23rd, 2011 the first song, "Welcome to the Church of Rock and Roll" off their latest album was given as a free download to anyone who pre-ordered it. According to album reviewers, this album of 11 songs has a more refined, produced sound than the previous record. Foxy Shazam is currently playing on tour with The Darkness, before heading out on their own headlining tour later this April. At its peak so far, The Church of Rock and Roll has been number 115 on the US Billboard Top 200, number thirty-five on the US Rock Albums Billboard, number twenty-four on the US Alternative Albums Billboard, number twelve on the US Hard Rock Albums Billboard and number two on the US Top Heatseekers Billboard.
