Seether
Jan 28, 2021
South Africa's Seether started back in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. They originally performed under the name "Saron Gas" until 2002, when they moved to the U.S. and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist/guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has also added second guitarist Corey Lowery.
Seether first gained major notice in 2002 with their number one single "Fine Again." Their success continued in 2004 with the Top 20 single "Broken." Since then they have had a slew of #1 Rock singles (16 to date), including "Remedy," "Fake It," "Country Song," "Words as Weapons," and "Let You Down." The band has released eight studio albums, with their most recent, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" released in August 2020.
The latest LP has already notched another #1 single with "Dangerous" and the second single "Bruised and Bloodied" is already receiving a nice buzz at Rock Radio. Morgan says making the video for this latest single "felt surreal in many ways after the craziness of 2020. That was the first time we had been in a room together in months and all of us felt this incredible exhilaration to be behind our instruments again. I felt like a kid again and hopefully the energy we are all sharing comes through the screen."
