Ice Nine kills combine metalcore aggression that are inspired by classic horror films. In the early 2000s, the band made a few changes before focusing on a melodic hardcore sound that supported the breakthrough 2015 LP Every Trick in the Book onto the Billboard 200.
Ice Nine kills, band name was inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel Cat’s Cradle. The band’s early days were spent rotating through band members and release albums such as The Pop-Punk Ska Years (2002) and Last Chance to Make Amends (2006) before settling a more stable lineup in 2009, which featured Spencer Charnas, guitarist Justin DeBlieck and Justin Morrow, bassist Shane Bisnett and drummer Conor Sullivan. The shift in band members formed the group into a heavier, more metal direction, which was released in their 2010 Safe Is Just a Shadow. In 2011, bassist Shane Bisnett parted ways and Steve Koch stepping in to replacing him. Then in 2013, an EP, The Predator was released.
By late 2015, Ice Nine Skills signed with Fearless Records and released the band’s fourth studio LP Every Trick in the Book. On tour, the band issued a re-recorded version of 2010’s Safe Is Just a Shadow and a handful of singles, including “Nature of the Beast” and a cover of “I don’t Wanna Live Forever.” Then in 2018, Sullivan parted ways from the group which reduced Ice Nine Kills to a core trio. After Sullivan left, the band released their next album “The American Nightmare,” which was inspired by A Nightmare on Elm Street. The theme inspired their fifth album, The Silver Scream, which fully embraced their passion of horror classics by crafting 13 tracks inspired by 13 horror movies. They debuted in the Top 5 of the U.S. Hard Music and Rock charts, rising into the Top 30 of the Billboard 200.
