Gavin DeGraw
Jun 23, 2013
New York singer-songwriter, Gavin Degraw has returned with a new single, "Best I Ever Had," in which he addresses not being able to smoke inside, fans who can't take their eyes off their smartphones, and a world full of "too many hipsters" that he can't relate to. The track previews DeGraw's fifth studio album, due out later this year via RCA. Outside the comfort zone of his past hits, "Best I Ever Had" moves to the rhythm of a pounding kickdrum, galloping guitar and a horn section that recalls contemporary folk-leaning artists. Co-written by DeGraw and Martin Johnson (who also produced the track), "Best I Ever Had" hit radio and digital retailers on June 18th.
DeGraw rose to fame in 2003 when "I Don't Want to Be" was chosen as the theme song for teen drama One Tree Hill. His debut album, Chariot came a few months later under J Records. This album sold over a million copies and earned platinum certification. He then went on to release an acoustic version of the album called Chariot Stripped in 2004. DeGraw's second album, self-titled Gavin DeGraw was released in 2008 and it debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales chart and ranked at No. 7 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart. Gavin Degraw's third album, Free was released in 2009. His fourth, and most recent album, Sweeter is DeGraw's first album released under RCA Records. It spawned the hit "Not Over You" and has sold 223,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the interim between albums, the singer appeared on -- and, sadly, did not win -- season 14 of "Dancing With the Stars."
This summer, fans can catch DeGraw on tour with Train and The Script.
