Casey Abrams
Aug 6, 2012
Casey Abrams was born in Austin, Texas, but spent his early years living in suburbs of Chicago before his family settled in Idyllwild, California. He attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy, focusing on the double bass and piano before expanding into singing. Abrams travelled back to Austin in February 2011 to participate in the auditions for American Idol's tenth season. After being selected, he quickly became a favorite of the audience and the judges with his easy going personality and good singing voice. Abrams sang a wide variety of song styles in the competition, although he lists his major influences as being jazz and pop vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles. Though Abrams finished in sixth place in the competition, he made various television appearances soon after and made his recording debut in Fall 2011 alongside fellow season ten Idolist Haley Reinhart in a duet performance of "Baby, It's Cold Outside."
He signed with Concord Music Group in January 2012 and released his debut album Casey Abrams in June. The album and lead single "Get Out" have received positive reviews.
