Xavier Rudd
May 16, 2011
Australian World music artist Xavier Rudd kicked off his Tap Root Tour with a SOLD OUT show in Aspen, Colorado last night as well as at the legendary Ogden Theatre in Denver tonight. This marks the first time Xavier has performed solo in the US in about five years. Xavier's next return to Colorado has just been confirmed for June 4th when he will be the music headliner at the 10th Annual Teva Mountain Games (TMG), the nation's largest mountain sports, art and lifestyle festival.
During TMG, Rudd will perform a free outdoor show at Checkpoint Charlie in the heart of Vail Village and will headline one of the two Bud Light Mountains of Music evening concerts taking place during the Teva Mountain Games June 2-5, 2011. After Rudd's show, numerous after parties will ramp up and keep the energy high late into the night.
This current US solo headline tour will take Xavier Rudd to cities he has not yet headlined since the release of his most recent album, Koonyum Sun. Such cities include Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington DC, Dallas and Austin. To call the TAP ROOT TOUR a solo tour is technically correct, however anyone who has seen Xavier Rudd alone on stage knows this is a far cry from the preconception of a standard solo performance. Often referred to as a "one man band", Rudd takes multi-tasking to an entirely new level. With a set-up that allows guitar, didgeridoo and various percussion parts to be played simultaneously, he utilizes a unique set-up that literally surrounds him with various instruments, while singing from behind the rig holding three didgeridoos of different keys. As word has spread about Rudd's spectacular stage performance, he has continued to build his fan base, selling out tours throughout the world.
Xavier Rudd has opened for artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and Rodrigo y Gabriela along with playing some of the most prestigious festivals in the world; Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Bumbershoot, Glastonbury, Summer Sonic are among them.
For fans, Xavier is holding Meet & Greet opportunities in every city on the Tap Root Tour. Being that Rudd is an internationally recognized environmental activist, the opportunities will include fan efforts towards an eco-friendly environment.
