Santana

Carlos Santana has already established his legacy as one of the greatest guitarists in music history. Instead of resting on his laurels, though, the Mexican-born virtuoso has been devoting his time to laying down a brand new album, featuring his own renditions of some of the most famous singles in rock history.
For his new album, 'Guitar Heaven...The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time,' Santana collaborated with Clive Davis, Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, to put together some of the most well-known guitar anthems in the world. According to the artist's website, 'Guitar Heaven' will feature covers of songs by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, among others. And, to help him bring his vision to life, Santana has assembled a world class lineup of artists to lend their talents to his new album. Among the most notable names appearing on 'Guitar Heaven' are Nas, india.arie, Rob Thomas and Scott Stapp.
Santana's new album won't be dropping until September 21st, but the artist has already unveiled the first single off of 'Guitar Heaven,' in the form of a stirring cover of the Beatles' 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' The song, which was dedicated to the late Beatle George Harrison, features india.arie and world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma alongside the always smooth Santana. "Listening to the song," George's widow Olivia Harrison reportedly told Carlos, "it made me jump for joy and cry at the same time."
Perhaps the most intriguing track on 'Guitar Hero' is Santana's cover of AC/DC's 'Back in Black,' featuring hip-hop legend Nas. As The Boombox points out, Santana has a rich history of collaborating with major hip-hop artists, including House of Pain's Everlast, as well as Wyclef Jean, both of whom appeared on his 1999 smash hit album 'Supernatural.' This time around, Santana says he's crafted his sound according to what his female friends would want to hear. "I paid special attention to the groove so the females would get completely aroused," he recently said.
We'll still have to wait a little longer before hearing what Santana's female-friendly approach sounds like; but for now, you can check out his fully loaded track list, below.
