Gary Allan has departed Universal Music Group Nashville, which has been his home since the release of his first single in 1996. He was originally assigned to UMG’s Decca imprint, then shifted to MCA Nashville in 1999 beginning with his “Smoke Rings In The Dark” single. More recently, he had been on the EMI Nashville roster since 2016. That imprint released his most recent album, “Ruthless,” in 2021.
Allan shared the news on social media on July 29th, writing, “For the last 15 years plus, UMG Nashville has been my record label home. I am very thankful to the staff members at Decca, MCA and EMI for the belief and support they have had in me, but it is now time for a new adventure. I am excited for what the future holds, and look forward to sharing more news soon."
