Banks & Steelz
Aug 19, 2016
Back in 2013, Wu-Tang Clan's RZA revealed he was working on a record with Interpol's Paul Banks. Earlier this summer, the two unveiled a name for their project, Banks & Steelz. "Giant" is the latest song they've released and it will be on their debut album entitled "Anything But Words," due out on August 26th via Warner Bros. Records. "Giant" was produced by John Hill and Kid Harpoon. The collection features Florence + The Machine's Florence Welch, Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man and Masta Killa, and Kool Keith.
When asked about first meeting one another, RZA explained, "I was in New York at the time. Paul was in New York, and my manager -- I don't know exactly what happened. ... All I know is that I met him at a tequila bar, I remember that. And once we met it was just two New York musicians connecting. That was really the foundation of it. My manager was a fan of Interpol's work and he got me familiar with it as well."
Banks and RZA first began recording music together in 2011. Their demos caught the attention of an A&R, which is when they began recording longer compositions for an album. The duo began work on an album in 2013.
Banks & Steelz head out on their first tour as a twosome immediately following the album drop. The U.S. jaunt throughout this summer and fall includes stops at Los Angeles' FYF Fest on Aug. 27th and FYE Fest on Aug. 28th, the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, Sept. 23rd-25th, Austin City Limits Sept. 3th-Oct. 2nd and Oct. 7th-9th.
