Gin Wigmore

"Willing To Die" is the new single from the New Zealand-born singer, Gin Wigmore. It's a hidden track on her third full-length album, "Blood To Bone" out now via Strange Loop. The track samples folklorist Alan Lomax's 1940s song "Rosie" and features Australian and American hip-hop artists Suffa and Logic.
She explains, "I could not for the life of me think of anything decent to write for the verses of this song. So, as a joke, I thought I would rap the verse. When I woke up to the fact that me and rapping are not meant to be...I decided to shoot for the stars and see if two of my favourite rappers, one being Logic and the other being Suffa, might be up for being a part of it. Much to my surprise and complete excitement, they were. And that's how I managed to get two of the finest rappers to feature on "Willing To Die."
In 2004, Wigmore's sister entered a song that Gin had written into the U.S.-based International Songwriting Competition and Wigmore beat 11,000 songwriting aspirants from 77 countries to become the youngest and only unsigned Grand Prize winner in the history of the competition. Since then, she has gone on to release three EPs and three studio albums; "Holy Smoke," "Gravel & Wine" and lastly, "Blood To Bone."
