FFS

FFS is a supergroup consisting of the Scottish quartet Franz Ferdinand and the duo and brothers Ron and Russell Mael, Sparks. Via Domino Records, they will be releasing their collective self-titled debut album on June 9th. It was produced by John Congleton (St Vincent, David Byrne, Anna Calvi) and recorded at London's RAK Studios. This album is a 12-track collection that perfectly mixes Franz Ferdinand's knack for taut rock jams with Spark's ornate flourishes. The latest single released from the album is "Call Girl." With zippy harmonies and a truly strange synth figure, it's a lot of fun.
"The real motivation was to make something new, not 'Franz featuring Russell Mael', or 'Sparks with Franz Ferdinand backing them'," said Franz Ferdinand front-man, Alex Kapranos.
Despite only recently announcing their formation, the two bands have been recording together for several years. Franz Ferdinand's last album was 2013's "Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action" while Sparks' most recent release was a reissue of their 1974 album "Kimono My House."
FFS will play a selection of UK dates this June, including London's Troxy on June 29. Then they will hit the European Festival circuit during July.
