Nate Ruess
Feb 26, 2015
The Fun front-man, Nate Ruess has recently released his debut solo effort, "Nothing Without Love" via Fueled By Ramen/RRP. The song was produced by frequent collaborators Jeff Bhasker and Emile Haynie. It has that signature sky-high Ruess falsetto and Bhasker's instantly recognizable emotional piano backed by a booming beat. The song also features backing vocals from Swedish singer Lykke Li and guitar from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Josh Klinghoffer. Ruess's forthcoming debut album should be arriving sometime this summer.
"It felt so believable; I was saying what I was thinking," Ruess said. "This is the first time I've been comfortable in my own skin, and it's with someone who's comfortable in their own skin. The reason I'm making a solo album is because it's the first time."
Originally in the band, The Format and then Fun, the singer-songwriter is no stranger to the music scene. Fun is best known for their three hit singles, Grammy Award-winning "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monáe), "Some Nights", and "Carry On". In 2013, the band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for "We Are Young".
