"Sunburns" is the latest release from the indie project Fences. It will be on the group's second album, Lesser Oceans which is scheduled to be released on March 10th via Elektra/RRP. The Seattle foursome sought the help of former Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla to produce this album. The accompanying music video for "Sunburns" was shot while Fences lead singer, Christopher Mansfield was staying in Los Angeles and it is centered around black-and-white footage of the singer performing in an empty studio.
"When I walked onto set, I saw a single stool sitting ominously in a blacked-out room," he says. "I wasn't intimidated by any means, but I knew I had to be extremely present in my delivery. I feel like I connected with the director in a deeper way due to the starkness of the production."
Fences was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Christopher Mansfield, guitarist Benjamin Greenspan, bassist and vocalist Lindsey Starr and drummer Elliott Garm Chaffee. They released their debut studio album Fences in 2010.
To coincide with the release of Lesser Oceans, Fences will begin a cross-country trek as main support for The Mowglis beginning March 25th at The Independent in San Francisco. The tour includes stops at New York City's Bowery Ballroom, Nashville's Mercy Lounge and Austin's The Parish before it's Los Angeles finale at the Regent Theatre. Following the tour, the band will immediately head to Atlanta for the Shaky Knees Music Festival during the weekend of May 8th-10th.
