Night Terrors Of 1927
Oct 9, 2014
Jarrod Gorbel (The Honorary Title) and Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley, The Elected) are Night Terrors Of 1927. Their debut EP, Anything To Anyone EP was recently released via Atlantic/RRP. The dup collaborated with fellow duo Tegan And Sara for the lead single, "When You Were Mine". It's a lo-fi up-tempo number with distinct tinges of The Killers, and an incredibly catchy chorus.
In 2012, the former Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennett teamed up with Jarrod Gorbel - ex-frontman for Brooklyn outfit the Honorary Title - to craft darkly cathartic synth-pop under Night Terrors of 1927. The name Night Terrors of 1927 comes from the last chapter in a journal that Gorbel's great grandfather left to him. The journal itself was a first hand account of life in the late 1920's. It contained a chapter entitled 'night terrors of 1927'. The entry spoke of the chronic nightmares that plagued him. That for eight months in 1927, no matter how well the rest of his life looked he could not shake these terrible specters that would visit him in his sleep. Jarrod shared the journal with Blake and the band name was born. Since forming, the duo have posted a handful of tracks to their SoundCloud page and released two EPs.
Night Terrors of 1972 have a busy fall tour with shows scheduled at the Austin City Limits Festival and then opening for Capitol Cities throughout the US, ending in California at the end of November.
