The Norwegian quintet, Highasakite are gearing up for their return to the states for a tour of the west coast with the UK-based indie pop trio London Grammar. To celebrate, the band has released another new track "Hiroshima" off their forthcoming full-length debut, Silent Treatment, out April 8th in the US. It was recently #1 in Norway. This new track follows the lead single, "Since Last Wednesday," which the band performed live recently at the Norwegian Grammys, "Iran" that premiered at SPIN and "Leaving No Traces" that premiered at Gigwise.
Earning "best new band" accolades from Pitchfork, NME, Paste, and even Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) at Oslo, Norway's Øya Festival in 2012, They released their debut EP, In and out of weeks, this past spring, receiving high praise from SPIN, NYLON, Paper, Interview, BrooklynVegan, MTV, Teen Vogue, and many more.
Highasakite band members include Ingrid Helene Håvik (vocals), Trond Bersu (drums), Øystein Skar (synths), Marte Eberson (synths) and Kristoffer Lo (guitar, percussion and flugabone). Håvik writes most of the lyrics and music. They started out opening for other musical projects like Your Headlights Are On, PELbO and Sacred Harp. Their debut album, All That Floats Will Rain, was released in Norway in 2012 through the record label, Riot Factory, and it was produced by Juhani Silvola and Thomas Dahl. The album reached #16 on the Norwegian Albums Chart.
