Darling Parade
Jun 3, 2013
Nashville Alternative four piece Darling Parade released their debut album, Battle Scars And Broken Hearts via Page 2 Music on April 2nd.
When describing the lead single "Ghost," lead vocalist Kristin Kearns says "For me, it's about having something, losing it, and longing for it. Whether it's a person or something that you had that got ripped away from you basically. I wrote the song as if it was a person I had lost, but I never actually lost any family members."
Darling Parade just scored a nomination in the "Make a Band Famous" category at MTV's O Music Awards. The OMAs honor innovators in music, culture and technology. The five nominees, chosen by over 1 million fan votes, will perform at the MTV O Music Awards airing on June 19 at 7p.(ET) as part of "Live Music Day," a 24-hour, live-streamed party featuring performances from around the country. During the live show, the band who scores the most votes will get a once-in-a-lifetime shot to play VMA weekend in August, as well as the distinction of becoming MTV's Artist to Watch & VH1's You Oughta Know highlighted band.
Formed in early 2007 when Kearns asked Nate McCoy to play behind her at a local show, and then after adding bassist Dustin McCoy and drummer Casey Conrad - the latter through an ad on Craigslist - the band was completed. Darling Parade have so far issued three independently released EPs with the most recent one, 2011's Until We Say It's Over, landing in the #8 spot on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart. In 2012, their music video for "Never Wrong" was voted to the No. 1 position on The Freshmen mtvU.
They raised $16,000 from their fans through Kickstarter to record "Battle Scars And Broken Hearts". They've shared the stage with Cassadee Pope, Chevelle, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Stephen Jerzak, Plumb, The Ataris and more. Their music has been reviewed and featured by AOL, MSN, Billboard, Pollstar, Last.FM, Metrolyrics.com, RDIO, & Spotify. The band is the reigning 2012-2013 Channel One "Artist Of The Year" and their music is currently being played on AOL Radio, Radio.com, Slacker Radio. Darling Parade was chosen to star in Supercuts' national "Rock the Cut" TV/Multimedia campaign that will begin airing on July 1st, 2013.
As far as the future goes, Darling Parade wants to put their music in front of as many people as possible. "We want to tour as much as possible, and get in front of people, and sell the album," said McCoy.
