Tame Impala
Apr 28, 2013
Australian buzz band, Tame Impala released their sophomore album back on October 5th, entitled Lonerism via Modular Recordings. Their first official single "Elephant" is the first time they've gone deep into its mythology and symbolism. It's thick, one-note guitar riffs shuffle and stomp with a heavy beat. It doesn't hurt that this single has major exposure on the Blackberry TV commercial.
The band came to prominence in 2010 with the release of their debut album Innerspeaker. Their name refers to the impala, a medium sized antelope. They like to see themselves as "a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melody. Tame Impala members are Kevin Parker, Dom Simper and Jay Watson. Kevin and Dom have been musical companions for about 9 years, having met at music class in high school at age 13, sometime after Kevin had began honing his primitive self recording skills as a way of putting tune to his newly learned drum beats.
Tame Impala began an international tour in 2012 through 2013, supported by The Growl. They have already played major festivals, such as Coachella, Sasquatch Festival and have appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon too.
