Kaiser Chiefs
Mar 5, 2012
The Kaiser Chiefs will be releasing their fourth studio album under the title Start The Revolution Without Me on the label Co-Operative/Downtown on March 6th.. It will contain several songs from last summer's UK only release, The Future Is Medieval. The tracklist differs significantly from the initial release including the lead single "On the Run" which is exclusive to the US album.
The founding members, Nick Hodgson, Nick Baines and Simon Rix of Kaiser Chiefs first met when they were around 11 years old as they were in the same class at St. Mary's Catholic High School in Menston, Leeds. After leaving school in 1996, Rix and Baines left for university while Hodgson remained in the Leeds area, meeting both Andrew White and Ricky Wilson. Hodgson, White and Wilson originally formed under the band name Runston Parva later changing its name to Kaiser Chiefs. The name comes from the South African football club Kaizer Chiefs. Soon after seeing them perform live several times, James Sandom became their manager and got Kaiser Chiefs signed to B-Unique Records.
2005 was a big year for Kaiser Chiefs as their involvement in the NME Awards Tour at the beginning of the year. During this ceremony, they were awarded the Philip Hall Radar. This certainly attracted a lot of positive media attention. Kaiser Chiefs would go on to release Employment as their debut album later that year. Employment was primarily inspired by New Wave and punk rock music of the late 1970s and 1980s. They enjoyed international success with over three million copies sold. Kaiser Chiefs' second album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007), yielded "Ruby", a number one single in the UK. After releasing a third album, Off with Their Heads a year later, Kaiser Chiefs took a three-year hiatus before releasing their latest material.
To promote their latest album release of Start The Revolution Without Me, the Kaiser Chiefs single "On The Run" impacts Alternative radio as the band begins U.S. tour dates that include SXSW and Coachella.
