White Rabbits
Mar 5, 2012
White Rabbits return with their third album, titled Milk Famous, slated for release on March 6th on tbd/ATO Records. The bulk of Milk Famous was recorded over the course of 2011 in Austin, and produced by Mike McCarthy with the exception "Back For More," which was produced by the band's own Stephen Patterson and Alex Even and recorded last November at Meth Beach in Philadelphia. Milk Famous' release will also be preceded by first single "Temporary" which impacts on March 6th.
White Rabbits teamed up with NPR for the premiere of "Heavy Metal," the recently unveiled opening track from the new album. Directed by Andrew Droz Palermo, the "Heavy Metal" video can be viewed at http://whiterabbitsmusic.com/blog. The "Heavy Metal" clip is a marked departure from Palermo's previous work with White Rabbits, the performance-centric"Percussion Gun" video from the last album. "Heavy Metal" instead creates a surreal otherworld where three anonymous characters echo the song's hypnotic loops with oddly mesmerizing minimalist body language. Palermo noted, "I wanted to highlight the reverse and looping piano work in the track." So the idea of animated .GIFs came to mind, which the band loved. Listening to the track over and over, I began imagining these repetitive domestic tasks that I could freeze, extend, and repeat."
Originally from Missouri, the Brooklyn, NY-based White Rabbits six piece is led by dual vocalists, Greg Roberts (Guitar/Vox) and Steve Patterson (Piano/Vox), Alex Even (Guitar/Vox), Adam Russell (Bass), Matt "The Duck" Clark (Drums), and Jamie Levinson (Drums). The White Rabbits recorded its first studio album, Fort Nightly, and released it in 2007 to the public through Say Hey Records. In addition to consistent touring, they have been featured on NPR's World Cafe, where the band members discussed how they met and formed in the college town of Columbia, Missouri. In 2009, the band released their second album, titled It's Frightening on tbd Records.
With a live performance described by ESQUIRE as one of "9 Shows A Man Should See," White Rabbits have confirmed their first dates of 2012. They will be joined by The War On Drugs and Tennis on select dates.
