Giovannie and the Hired Guns
Oct 3, 2022
Stephenville, TX-based band Giovannie & The Hired Guns released their second single "Overrated" via Warner/Crush Music. It's the follow up to their debut #1 Rock & Alternative single "Ramon Ayala” from their forthcoming album Tejano Punk Boyz out October 28th.
“The song is about humility,” explains frontman Giovannie Yanez. "No matter how successful (or lucky) you get, always remember your roots and don’t take any of it too seriously. Never give up on your dreams and try to make them real, but the journey is really the best part." He continues, “One of my dreams is to share my culture with the largest possible audience. We love playing this song live because the tuba is such a cool part of the song and people love it. It’s a way of saying ‘we all belong.’ I mean who doesn’t have a great time when a tuba is on stage!"
In the last year, Giovannie And The Hired Guns have grown from a massively beloved local live act to a new force on the national rock scene fronted by Mexican-American Giovannie Yanez (lead singer/guitarist), Carlos Villa (guitar), Jerrod Flushe (guitar), Alex Trejo (bass guitar) and Milton Toles (drums).
The band has previously self-released two albums: Bad Habits (2017) and Giovannie And The Hired Guns (2020).
Yanez first explored his approach to songwriting at the age of 17. Around that same time, he began performing at local dive bars while holding down a job at a nearby rock quarry. "I’d go play gigs and be out till about three in the morning, then get up to go to work at seven—it was a struggle for a while, but I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life,” said Yanez. Not long after landing a job at a pawnshop, Yanez crossed paths with bassist Alex Trejo and soon began assembling the Hired Guns lineup, then pushed forward with an equally grueling gig schedule and their first two albums.
Giovannie & The Hired Guns continue their high energy tour starting October 7th. Find the tour dates here.
