Marcus Mumford
Aug 4, 2022
British-American singer-songwriter Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons unveiled his official single "Grace" July 29th via Capitol. It's from his highly anticipated debut (self-titled) solo album, produced by Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Jim James) that will drop on September 16th.
Mumford had shared an emotional lead-off track "Cannibal" earlier this month. Vocalist Danielle Ponder, who will be supporting Mumford on tour this fall, and bassist Pino Paladino are among the musicians joining Mumford on the "Grace" track.
The accompanying video for Grace is a literal up-close and personal, eye-level jaunt through the mind of someone trying to overcome. As Mumford desperately drinks water from a tall glass, the majority of it spills down his face, a moment which is repeated several times throughout the video. Though the sound of the song is mellow in tempo, there is a much more soulful and active undertone to the video, which mirrors the feeling of the track.
The band Mumford & Sons formed in London in 2007 and consists of Mumford, one of the founding members (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums), Ted Dwane (vocals, bass guitar, double bass), and Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, piano). Winston Marshall (banjo, electric guitar, resonator guitar, dobro left the band in 2021. They've released four studio albums, Sigh No More (2009), Babel (2012), Wilder Mind (2015), and Delta (2018) and they've won numerous awards, including Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Long Form Music Video, two BRITs and an Ivor Novello award.
Mumford's U.S. headline tour kicks off with two Colorado dates – September 19th at Boulder’s Fox Theatre and September 20th at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. The tour runs through November 10th in Toronto and includes performances at Austin City Limits Festival on October 9th and October 16th. Find all the tour dates here.
