Houston trio Waterparks have a new label home and their first single "Funeral Grey" is out now via Fueled By Ramen/3EE It's the first single from the band's upcoming fifth album. The single's infectious guitar riff and Awsten Knight’s bright, energetic vocals, culminate in a perfect pop-punk summer anthem. The track’s playful and clever lyricism chronicle the pursuit of a girl at a party he deems his “next mistake,” complete with cleverly crafted imagery and an iconic Kim Possible reference. “Funeral Grey” was heavily teased on socials over the last month and reached the #1 Trending Topic on Twitter in the U.S.
Waterparks is composed of Knight [vocals, guitar], Otto Wood [drums], and Geoff Wigington [guitar]. This new album see Waterparks step into a more mature sound and look, elevating the image and sonics that have already accumulated over half a billion career streams to date. Their unique and genre-blending sound puts them in a lane all their own, melding rock, pop, hip-hop, alternative, indie, electronic, and even R&B.
The band formed in 2011. Their previous four albums are Double Dare (2016); Entertainment (2018); Fandom (2019) and Greatest Hits (2021).
Waterparks will headline Sad Summer Fest dates from July 8th in Sacramento thru August 5th in Milwaukee. The band will also be touring with My Chemical Romance this fall. Find the tour dates here.
