“The Apartment” is the new single from the duo, Foreign Air. It can be found on their debut full-length album, “Good Morning Stranger,” released October 16th via The Orchard. This 16-song collection of indie-electronica features contributions from Jayson Dezuio (Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors), Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa) and more. “Good Morning Stranger” is the culmination of over 3 years of work from the DC/LA based duo Jesse Clasen and Jacob Michael, who wrote much of the album by sharing sonic ideas through Dropbox while living 3,000 miles apart.
When asked about “The Apartment” specifically, the duo explains, “We really love the sounds in the Italian Western soundtracks from the 60’s. A lot of the songs in this song were inspired by Ennio Morricone’s The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” “Lyrically, it’s obviously about a breakup…sorta foreshadowing what was coming in my life I suppose. The music video for this song was done spur of the moment in my living room using my iPhone to frame the shots. It came out pretty good especially for not really planning it at all.”
Foreign Air is the creation of Jesse Clasen and Jacob Michael, who met in the late 2000s when their respective bands, Bear Romantic and U.S. Royalty played on the same bill. They began as a long-distance project after they took interest in each other's talents and stayed in touch over the years. Hailing from North Carolina and Washington, D.C., respectively, the collaboration truly came to fruition in early 2015 after the pair began trading ideas via Dropbox. As Foreign Air, they released their debut single, "Free Animal," in late 2015 followed by an EP, “For the Light,” in 2016. A series of stand-alone singles arrived over the next few years, including 2017's "Lying" and 2019's "Wake Me Up."
