“Lonely” is the latest single at Alternative Radio from Palaye Royale. It will be on their 3rd full-length studio album entitled “The Bastards” set for release on May 29th via Sumerian Records. “Lonely” features some of the most honest and heartbreaking lyrics ever written by front-man Remington Leith and the accompanying music video, which he also directed, is a perfect reflection of the difficult and deeply personal topics addressed by the song of childhood abandonment, mental health issues and drug use.
“’Lonely’ is about the mental and physical abuse I endured as a child,” Leith explains. “Growing up, I went through so much shit and at points felt so low I couldn’t see a way out. It has affected me deeply throughout my life but I want the world to know that no matter what you’re going through, if I can make it out on the other side, so can you.”
When asked about the recording of the new album, Palaye Royale member Sebastian Danzig states, “We rented an AirBnB in Joshua Tree, one in London, and we kept on going in little areas and writing new sections of the album. It’s crazy — we thought the album was done in March of last year, and we did the heavy stuff in Joshua Tree. We wrote ‘Little Bastards’ a week before the album was supposed to be mixed and mastered.”
Hailing from Canada, Palaye Royale was formed in Las Vegas in 2008 by brothers Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig, and Emerson Barrett. Their single "Get Higher" led them to become the first unsigned band to win MTV's Musical March Madness awards. They have previously two studio albums; “Boom Boom Room (Side A)” in 2016 and “Boom Boom Room (Side B)” in 2018.
The band have gone from playing any show they could whilst sleeping in their car to playing arena shows. Palaye Royale has also played Reading and Leeds festivals.
