In The Valley Below

On October 5th, In The Valley Below, will be releasing their sophomore album, “The Pink Chateau” via Bright Antenna Records. “Desperate Dance” is the name of the collection’s lead single. No track gives better proof of their refreshed boundary-pushing style than the wild ride of this track and its flashy accompanying video. Filmed in the untamed expanse of Joshua Tree in California, the pair embody the song’s thematic struggle to maintain a sense of self amid a world of temptations with a vivacious flare and kaleidoscopic visuals.
"We like to have some freedom when making videos, so we find a location and kind of wing it,” the band explains. “We had an urge to go to the desert for this video...the colorful scenes and baptism felt strange and unlikely in the dry uninhabitable desert. The track is about reaching a point of hopelessness that requires action,” In The Valley Below band-member, Angela Gail recalls. “An impossible last ditch attempt to get what you need even if you get lost in the process. We wanted the video to be colorful to show desperation at the end of the rainbow.”
In the nearly seven years since Angela Gail and Jeffrey Jacob teamed up as In The Valley Below in 2011, the duo have released an album and three EPs (charting with their single “Peaches”), left Los Angeles for a home in the Upper Midwest and become parents. Musically, they’ve explored several nuances of electronic pop, from dark and brooding to playful and psychedelic.
