Interpol

“The Rover” is the latest single from the long-running group Interpol. It is the first track from their upcoming Dave Fridmann-produced sixth collection, “Marauder.” This forthcoming album is the follow-up to their 2014 “El Pintor” and it is set for release on August 24th via Matador/Beggars Group.
At a recent Mexico City press conference, Interpol front-man Paul Banks explained, “In the context of the songs we put together, [The Rover] is kind of the most direct and immediately punchy rock song that we have. Marauder is a facet of myself. That’s the guy that fucks up friendships and does crazy shit. He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed.”
Interpol was formed in New York City in 1997. The band's original line-up consisted of Paul Banks (vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass guitar, keyboards) and Greg Drudy (drums, percussion). Drudy left the band in 2000 and was replaced by Sam Fogarino. In 2010, shortly after recording finished for the band's fourth album, Dengler left to pursue personal projects. Interpol's debut album “Turn on the Bright Lights” (2002) was critically acclaimed. They went on to release four more full-length collections, “Antics” (2004), “Our Love to Admire (2007), “Interpol” (2010) and “El Pintor” (2014).
Interpol recently expanded their 2018 tour with new North American and European dates. The newly announced schedule adds stops in Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, Austin, Phoenix, and San Diego from late August through early October. Come November, the band will be across the pond to hit up places like Dublin, Berlin, and Brussels. The Kills and Sunflower Bean will provide support during the North American stretch, while Nilüfer Yanya will open throughout Europe. The current itinerary concludes with a February 16th, 2019 gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden with Car Seat Headrest and Snail Mail.
