Day Wave
Aug 24, 2017
“Something Here” is the latest single from 20-something Oakland, California, native Jackson Phillips, better known as Day Wave. The track is from his debut album called “The Days We Had” released earlier this year via Harvest Records. It’s a polished and driving dream-pop song that delivers the familiar structure of his music while also going hard on shimmering synths and driving percussion.
"'Something Here' felt like a good introduction to the album," Phillips explains. "It's definitely still a Day Wave song, but it's a progression from my EP’s."
Day Wave, the solo project of Jackson Phillips, has released two EPs; 2015's “Headcase” and 2016's “Hard To Read.” Formed in 2015, the band consists solely of Jackson Phillips, with accompanying musicians for live performances. From an early age, he was trained as a jazz drummer and even studied the instrument at Berklee College of Music. He changed his studying to learn the production and recording of music, and has learned to create dream-pop music, and has been creating catchy lyrics with dream-pop music behind it since.
This fall, Day Wave will be heading out on the road in the U.S. including stops in Las Vegas at the Life Is Beautiful Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival.
