Death From Above

"Freeze Me" is the latest single from the Toronto band, Death From Above, via Warner Bros. Records. Previously known as Death From Above 1979, the band has dropped 1979 from their name after settling a legal dispute with James Murphy's Death From Above Records. Produced by Eric Valentine, (Queens Of The Stone Age) the accompanying music video was directed by Corey Adams and it follows a cabal of weightlifters who live it up in a fancy house as the outside world descends into a post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Death From Above vocalist & drummer Sebastien Grainger explains, "When Corey Adams started talking to us about making this video he said he wanted it to be about how body builders would spend their last day on earth before the nuclear apocalypse. He also mentioned there would be a guy dressed as Rambo playing a machine gun like an electric guitar and a lady body builder pumping iron under water. He had us at hello."
The duo consists of vocalist and drummer Sebastien Grainger and bassist Jesse F. Keeler. In 2002, they released their debut album in 2004 called “You’re A Woman, I Am A Machine.” Their sophomore album “The Physical World” was released 10 years later in 2014 after the band reunited after their hiatus. Shortly after, on October 7th 2014, Death From Above released a documentary titled “Life After Death from Above 1979.” It chronicled the history of the band and their reunion. It was directed by Grainger's wife, Eva Michon.
Death From Above are out on tour this summer at various festivals throughout Canada.
